Kumba, our neighbour. |
With our time winding down, it is inevitable that we move towards a Western list of Things To Do.
My list currently includes:
- Picture comparisons for Terrace CRC
- Help with JT's Visa Application
- Help with Kumba's Visa Application
- Visit MB's farm
- Preach May 27 in Kondembaia
- Report to CRWM
- Preach June 3 in Kabala CRC.
- Advise re: Articles of Faith
And that doesn't even include packing, saying goodbye, giving gifts, preparing to travel ...
Maybe you know the temptation, as I do, of making a list of TTD yet missing out on living fully while doing those things - because the goal somehow gets put ahead of the moment. There is 'joy in the journey' itself and we are seeking to pour our life into these last few days and squeeze the joy out of them. I like to think that Paul knew the Philippian church (and me!) would have a hard time living this out when he wrote, "Rejoice in the Lord always." So he followed up with, "I will say it again: Rejoice!"

The dark clouds mean rain. Sometimes quite a bit. |
Meaning everything is greener than it once was. |
And our neighbour, Kumba, brings us flowers. |
We collect water from the pan (zinc roof) in our gutter. |
The day after the rain, the flying ants are plentiful. The next picture will give you some perspective. |
They are attracted to the light at night, so we sometimes set up 'decoy' lights, so as to keep the bugs away from us as we sit and read in the evening. They are not the brightest of bugs. Or, as someone in our family said recently, "The refridgerator doesn't go all the way to the top floor." |
Our cooking surface. |
What we can cook on afore-mentioned surface: plenty in our fridge. |
One of Jacob's many cardboard airplanes. You should be able to name this model of aircraft. |
Some of the rest of the fleet in the background. |
Arguably the best $70 I've ever spent. It's rechargeable and runs for a couple hours after the generator is off when we're in bed trying to fall asleep. |
Alikalia - through the door of the church. |
