I had a chance to visit Rev. M.B. Jalloh's farm with M.B. and his son, Abu. Dave Mayer visited with MB there a few years ago and wanted me to get some pictures. I was privileged to see it and here is some of what I saw ...
Abu and MB, posing in tandem, on the veranda of the recently-constructed house on the farm site. |
Fresh water spring that supplies the farm year-round. |
Groundnut (peanuts) being planted by the women, including MB's wife, Musu, on the hillside. |
The care-taker. |
Looking to the border of MB's farm, across the swamp. |
MB, with the house in the background. Mango tree in foreground. |
Musu Jalloh (purple shirt) and children of some of the hired workers in the foreground. |
180 palm trees have been planted on 3 acres. |
MB standing proudly with a harvest of Mangoes on soil he has worked with his own hands and will maybe retire to soon. |
