Mach Pass (March Past)!!

This past week, Kabala CRC School held its fifth annual sports meet.  It began with a March Past (parade) on Thursday, where the 4 houses marched from one end of the city to the other accompanied by parents, dancing, 5 vehicles (with generators and loudspeaker systems blaring music), fanfare, pomp and circumstance.  The March Past culminated at the school, where the meet was officially kicked off.  Events were held on Friday and Saturday (more pictures in the next few days).  For now, enjoy Ella's pictures of the March Past.

We had a pretty good chance of winning, with 3 of 4 houses represented in our family.
Most parents wore the colours of their child's house.  Ella donned the colours of her children's houses.
All four houses represented in these serious boys as they congregate at 'the speed bump', almost 2 hours before the March Past actually commences.

Mr. Marah, a JSS teacher, arrived on an Okada (taxi-motorbike) to applause, clearly supporting Green House.

Getting organized.

Yup.  It says "barner".

Imagine a Krio praise song being blared over the loudspeakers and beaucoup dancing, complete with instructions to parents to 'dance responsibly, this is not a nightclub, we are ambassadors of CRC' ...

Coming through the town, still looking quite organized.

Scouts and the neighbouring school leading CRC school onto its field.  The Canadian flag is prominent, as is the anthem, due to the initial and ongoing partnership with Surrey Christian School.

Getting the houses organized for the opening ceremonies.

Police presence.

Maria and Margaret.

In Krio it was suggested:  "Yu na 'professional driver'" '...  Don't worry, I won't quit my day job.
